today i will blog about the justice queen.

For one. Her superior sense of justice, I can't take it. How many people in this world would actually obey rules until the last single minute detail. Details so minute that sometimes it seems insignificant. How does one entire class being forced to wear nothing but the shirt and skirt during assembly make the school look more uniformed. I understand where the queen is coming from but i just don't really get the rational about it. So it's all justice queen to some people and heck care to others? Yeah, I don't really get it. If the queen actually went up on stage and told the entire school and some other superior person actually reinforced the rule, we would all follow it willingly. But for now, I don't even get why we're following it. Plus, some other people are really pissed with a certain card and a certain moderate amount of money to be given to donations. The rational behind this apparent forced willingness to give our money to this dependable organization is because the rule says that it is advised to collect more than that specific amount of money. Ho, so it means that if we do not have a glib tongue to con others into donating their money (which they worked hard for, i presume) and to sign the certain card, we then need to dig out money from our own pockets?

Flying zombies, where do all these money (a lot of money if a kid donates that amount willingly and it is multiplied by the entire school's number of students) even go to?
We're still functional, thinking citizens of this society, even if we're youths that don't seem to care about what's happening in the country.

Well, I am not ready to trust organizations that are not really transparent, because who knows what they're doing with their money. I rather help them by shaving off my hair (only to be strongly discouraged by my parents.) But being the sucker i am (was and always will be), i just swallowed this strange sense of rebellion and collected just a little more than the certain amount of money. Is this what justice is supposed to do to us?

Actually the stronghold on justice might be slipping, I heard that she just gave in to the people who didn't bother/cannot collect that certain amount of money.

Yeah, the justice queen's nice and everything as a person, but sometimes having too much of justice in your blood makes you a little stiff and too upright. Just like some prissy queen who got something stuck up her arse. Pardon me.

Looking at my own argument about the justice queen, there's nothing that is actually concrete to complain about, but who cares. After all we're all just unhappy, dark, apathetic youths suffering from the so-called rules and regulations - that may be quite meaningless - of this society.

Yet again, who am i to say anything?

LA Learning Log

Problems with the current school assessment (standardized test):
- Too rigid, the tests papers that are set now is an assessment that is uniform, standardized, impersonal, and absolute.

- It only encourages the teachers and the students to cover in school what is tested. eg the teachers tell them what to study and how to study, what to ignore and how to answer the question. For these type of tests, the teacher would also highly recommand the student to practice more papers so as to "know" how to answer the questions in the paper. But this is not a true assessment of a student's ability.

- In theory, the standardized test it gives the students a solid objective of what they must achieve and an equal opportunity for their advancement. But this only creates unhealthy competition which would ultimately result in talented but not exam-smart people (eg. Isaac Newton) dropping out of school or just retaining because they did not pass their exams. Also it would result in a group of marks-obsessed teenagers. No good at all.

- Forces the students to learn and study for one standardized test instead of encouraging them to learn a variety and spectrum of topics. And even if they do read a variety of topics (eg. for GP), these information will be easily forgotten once the test is over.

- Students would adopt a learn-for-the-test-and-forget-after-the-test mentality. This mentality would not help the students to sustain information for their lives in the future.

LA Learning Log

Child Psychologist
- Jean Piaget
- the sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational and formal operational stages
- 4 stages are in line with a child's communitive abilities
- so you will not teach a six year old girl the same way you teach a 16 year old girl
- what are the issues in education?
- what is education trying to solve?
- what are the various approaches towards this issue?
- what do some schools do to try to solve some of these issues?
- hypothetical (might be valid but not sound)

My role:
Assessment Expert –To advise on what constitutes sound assessment

Info:
Definition -
Simply testing an isolated skill or a retained fact does not effectively measure a student's capabilities. To accurately evaluate what a person has learned, an assessment method must examine his or her collective abilities. This is what is meant by authentic assessment. Authentic assessment presents students with real-world challenges that require them to apply their relevant skills and knowledge

Basic elements -
Authentic assessment accomplishes each of the following goals:
1. Requires students to develop responses rather than select from predetermined options
2. Elicits higher order thinking in addition to basic skills
3. Directly evaluates holistic projects
4. Synthesizes with classroom instruction
5. Uses samples of student work (portfolios) collected over an extended time period
6. Stems from clear criteria made known to students
7. Allows for the possibility of multiple human judgments
8. Relates more closely to classroom learning
9. Teaches students to evaluate their own work

"Fairness" does not exist when assessment is uniform, standardized, impersonal, and absolute. Rather, it exists when assessment is appropriate--in other words, when it's personalized, natural, and flexible; when it can be modified to pinpoint specific abilities and function at the relevant level of difficulty; and when it promotes a rapport between examiner and student.

Authentic assessment is designed to be criterion-referenced rather than norm-referenced. Such evaluation identifies strengths and weaknesses, but does not compare or rank students. based on performance: Students are asked to demonstrate their knowledge, skills, or competencies in whatever way they find appropriate.

Challenges -
They include managing its time-intensive nature, ensuring curricular validity, and minimizing evaluator bias.

YES. anyway. this is a random post.

I just went for tkd just now and was alone until after awhile other people started pouring in (in this order [i think] bryan, yanyi, drina, ryu, xinyi, but i have a bad memory so..)
and we kicked target la. then after break was sparring. me and yanyi very lucky this lesson (or suay?) we didn't get to spar.

i think ryu's quite cool. he can do the jelly jelly thing.

okay the picture looks bad.
the first one is the wavy wavy arms which i cannot do at all.
the 2nd one is stand on the head and arms then the leg curve curve.
the 3rd one is the OHNO WALK.

super cool la. i wanna learn one day.
and make my hair nicer. like really nicer. go reborn my fringe or something so that it'll stop looking like a nike sign LOL

and yanyi super funny la. she helped me study the menstrual cycle today. i studied until day 13 XD not bad already.

day 1-5
- start or menstration signals the start of the menstrual cycle.
- the uterine lining breaks own and flows through the uterus, out of the body through the vagina.
- anterior pituitary gland stimulated to secrete follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) into bloodstream.

day 6 - 13
effects of FSH:
- stimulates the development of follicles.
- one of the follicles would mature to become a Graafian follicle in one of the ovaries in each menstrual cycle.
- FSH stimulates follicles in ovaries to secrete oestrogen.
effects of Oestrogen:
- repairs and cause the uterine lining to grow.
- the uterine lining becomes spongey and thick with blood vessels.
- high concentration of oestrogen inhibits FSH, this would prevent the growth of follicles and would stimulate the pituitary gland to secrete luteinising hormone (LH).

day 14
Ovulation
effects of luteinising hormone (LH):
- causes ovulation
- causes the formation of the corpus luteum
- corpus luteum secretes progesterone and some oestrogen.

well i didn't finish the last few days of the cycle. i shall memorise sometime later XD

No matter how i look at Kanata Hongo, he still looks like some kid. Not that he's not one now but 17? Maybe not. But i think he looks quite cool with a bass guitar even though he might not know how to play it.

Kanata Hongo as Shin from NANA

A cooler picture of Kanata Hongo as Shin from NANA

But this is what he looks like normally.

7th - Dorcas, 20.51m

SHERAH.
I'm not sure if you'll see this but-
even though, sherah, you're not the top, and you didn't get a medal, we all knew that you tried your best in the competition. even if you didn't come close to your pb, it's still good enough. Although it might not seem like it, but it's still good.
You still have next year, all is not lost.
Don't beat yourself up, ya?

And Dorcas? Well done.

It'll be our turn soon. This thursday.
The final day, the final judgment.

The song Bleed For Me by Saliva sounds really nice. =3

Grading
I was really scared for this grading because it's really near nationals, my back was hurting like mad and partially also because of the people that were there (eg. xi'er). Haha sorry but I'm really scared when Xi'er's there. It's like i always have this feeling that I'm going to die and fail when i'm doing pattern next to her, or anyone from HC or any pro pro school.

In the end, the worst of the worst happened. Zomg la.
there were 2 other kids taking blue belt grading, and sylvia, dog, xi'er and me.
in the end, the 2 kids, sylvia and dog went up first AND the person told me and xi'er to STAY BEHIND. well done, so it means the examiner
(We were super lucky: we got stanley yeo. i was quite worried that we would get sam tan or something)
will only be looking at me and xi'er. which is not very good, because i look like shit next to her? haiz, sure fail one. next to such a pro person anything looks disgusting and awful =(

yes anyway, xi'er says that
she will invite us to her
wedding
in 5 to 6 years time.
if her bf/husband allows.

SO MEAN.
YES, WHOEVER XI'ER FUTURE HUSBAND WILL BE, PLEASE ALLOW HER TO INVITE US TO HER WEDDING!
<3

love XI'ER SYLVIA AND DOG!

JIAYOU ME FOR NATIONALS.
I WILL THROW NINE METERS AND MORE.
I WILL BE EXTREMELY EXCITED

My mom sending me to school this morning when i heard we made it on the radio. at first i thought it was really weird with all the strange imagery and stuff in the lyrics, but ohman the more i listen to it now the more i like it =3
not only because it's from linkin park.
i shall post the lyrics

We made it

Busta Rhymes ft. Linkin' Park

Together we made it
We made it even though we had our backs up against the wall

See ah niggas i survived the worst but my life is glorious
Better know it i leaped every hurdle and i'm so victorious
Take a look, i'm a symbol of greatness, now call a nigga Morpheus
As force securing the win and i believe i'm so notorious
you know i've been buying my bread even though we're rapping now
we used to live on the strip and you see a nigga higher level tramping now
superseded everyone of my middle struggles and
Failure never ever has been an option
A nigga paper long like we were on the trap and we 'bout ta' take the hood shoppin'
Get it!

Together we made it (See we did it niggas)
We made it even though we had our backs up against the wall (c'mon)
Forever we waited (haha)
And they told us we were never going to get it
But we took it on the road (to the riches)
On the road (to the ghetto)
On the road (in the projects to this bangin' instrumental)
On the road (ride with me)
On the road

When it all got started we was steadily just getting rejected
And it seemed like nothing we could do would ever get us respected
At best we were stressed and the worst they probably said we're pathetic
Had all the pieces to that puzzle just no way to connect it
And I was fighting through every rhyme tightening up every line
Never resting the question if I was out of my mind
And it finally came time to do it or let it die
So put the chips on the table and told 'em to let it ride
Sing it!

Together we made it (you see we did it niggas)
We made it even though we had our backs up against the wall (c'mon)
Forever we waited (haha!)
And they told us we were never going to get it
But we took it on the road (to the riches)
On the road (to the ghetto)
On the road (in the projects to this bangin' instrumental)
On the road (ride with me)
On the road (you come and get it)
On the road

Look in case you misunderstand exactly what I'm building
Shit that I could leave for my children (children) children (children)
Now I only wake up with a smile to see how far I've come
Fighting for sales on a strip to get the hustle from
From nights in jail on a bench using my muscles son
To counting money like Dre and Jimmy or Russell One
But now I live what I dream you see we finally did it
Let's make a toast to the hustle regardless how you did it
Sing it!

So nice right.

Yes anyway, we finally performed the showtime thing today. Haha it turned out better than we thought it would AND nicolea got a lot of fans (super cooling jkjk) LOL
Now she can go solo showtime her self XD

Okay now, i must jiayou for NATIONALS.
